Late report today as on a snowmobile trip to White Pine, MI.  Arrived in White Pine at 5:30 CST.  Rode a lot of trails in Vilas County today and ALL were at very minimum GOOD.  Most were VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT.  Here’s what we rode today in Eagle River, Sno-Eagles Country & north & west. ALL SNOW COVERED with the exception of road routes.  ie Adams road was icy.

10E from about 6 miles east of town to 10/13 “the grade” – Good
10/13 “the grade” from the south into town.  Met our riding group at the Rail Road Depot in town – Very Good
Headed north on 10/13 & rode all the way to 10 & 13 split.  Crossing the Wisconsin River bridge on 10/13 – Very Good
13N toward Bauer’s Dam – Very Good
From there continued on 13N in Sno-Buddies Conover trails to Frosty Club Land o’ Lakes trail to 6E to the BP – Good to Very Good.
Back on 6W to 5A to 6W leaving Frosty Club trails & entering Boulder Jct trails – Good to Very Good.
Continued west through Boulder Jct Trails into Presque Isle Trails heading west – Good to Very Good.  Some icy hills & corners.
Picked 1 heading west & north toward Michigan.  Continued on MI-1 to White Pine.  Heavy traffic & in need of grooming.

Groomers in Eagle River will be out tonight & will have a report tomorrow morning.

Best way to learn the trails is to buy a Sno-Eagles trail map.  Plus download the GTS trails app  It is available at the App Store.

If you do riding in the cold temps here are some cold weather riding tips:

  • Extra layers of clothing
  • Gloves/mittens with long lasting hand warmers or try a pair of battery heated gloves. Gauntlets over handle bars good too
  • Cold weather boots with layered socks. Boot warmers are good too
  • Fully charged phone stored in the inside pocket of your jacket
  • Heated shields are great other wise remember to breath through your nose to prevent fogging
  • Stop more frequently & drink water. Cold can cause dehydration

Please stay on the trails to keep the trails open.

Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are marked with orange reflective barrels.  Please stay by the barrels to be safe.  The lakes are marked by the businesses on the lake so stop in & thank them when you’re out riding.

TIME TO RIDE IF YOU ARE HARDY!

SEE YA ON THE TRAILS!!!
