SNOWMOBILE TRAILS IN EAGLE RIVER
Varying conditions
Heavy traffic

What a weekend in Eagle River & all of Vilas County for that matter!  Most snowmobiles on a weekend in a very long while.  Large groups of 10-12 or more of riders. Ton of traffic.

From last Thursday through yesterday SNOW fell everyday! Easily 8 inches+ of new wet packy SNOW.  It looks like the 30 for high today will mark the end of the 30’s until next Saturday.  The really good thing is teens at night.  Low tonight 17 & tomorrow 10 night.  The weather guys report this will be the case until Friday.  With the teens at night the groomers can go out groomer & the trails will have time to set up & freeze.

Groomer Tracking System shows in the last 24 hours the following trails were groomed:

  • 10/13 from the Groomer Barn through town & south onto Alt 13 aka 3
  • Alt 13 aka 3 “the grade” to the Three Lakes connect
  • 10/13 from the Groomer Barn heading north to 10/13 & 17N intersection
  • 17N to just beyond 1N
  • 1N to the Eagle Lake boat launch
  • Uncle Kent club trail to 10 intersection
  • East (left) on 10 to intersect with 13N
  • 13N to TIN 132 & the Buckatabon Creek Trl

Catfish & Eagle Lake trails are marked.  Please stay by the orange reflective barrels.

Caution Areas

Soft snow so it is squirrelly.  Especially in the corners so slow down or you might meet yourself coming around the corners!

Not much change & in general found trails sections especially in swamps have rough areas. Covered with plenty of snow but the bumps have set in the base & it is hard to correct. Sections on 13N beyond Hwy G very rough, Loon Lk Rd to Bloom Rd section of 10E rough, section of 17N from trail 1 to Columbus Rd rough. 70W section from Sundstein Rd running past the Lincoln Townhall heading west to Synergy rough sections.  17S from Paintball field to Sugar Camp connect.  Don’t be tempted to ride off trail.

With the trails soft the groomers should be able to get out there & cut the bumps & moguls.  Then with the cold night time temps the trails should set up & not be as rough. Plus this should rebuild the base & freeze it up.  Did notice some breakdown of the base as road crossings.

So here’s what you need to do…..KEEP THINKING COLD can use it & DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!

See you on the trails!
