EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
All Conditions
Trails can remain open until midnight March 31st – Conditions permitting

Total of 7+- inches of SNOW. Some was LES coming off Lake Superior.  Cold again this morning. High of 35 today. Typical March weather. 30’s + during the day.  Teen & low 20’s at night.   SNOW in the forecast for Tuesday to Thursday morning.  No totals yet.

With the sleety rain a couple of days ago the base is even thicker than it was.  Cold night time temps are helping that.  SNOW on top.   Trails are in really GOOD shape in the woods.  Pretty GOOD everywhere else too. With the hard ice underneath it’s “fast” & slippery so slow down.  Riding again this afternoon.  A bit of “spring riding”.  Report tomorrow.

No grooming last night. All trails were groomed prior to the sleet a few nights ago.  Then the new SNOW.  For now to prevent damage the heavy equipment is parked.  Stay tuned.

With the number of accidents & fatalities this season will keep reminding you:

When you come upon a group of sleds in front of you on the trail.  Passing them can get you in trouble.   Have been seeing this all winter.  When an entire group passes, by the time the last sled passes, a sled could be coming from the other direction.

Remember as you ride & meet a groomer the equipment is NOT able to leave the trail due to it’s weight.  Pull over & stop.  Wait for direction from the driver.  Give ’em a thumbs up.  They groom so we can ride!

Please ride on the right side, slow down, limit alcohol & no off trail riding.

Businesses on the 2 marked lakes, Catfish & Eagle have removed the barrels. Lots of slush & with temps dropping there was concern the barrels would freeze in & be hard to remove.

THINK COLD!!!  Keep DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!

See ya on the trails!   Maybe this year we’ll ride ’til midnight on the 31st!
