Trail Conditions: Excellent
Snow Cover: 6-9 inches of snow
Date of Report: January 29, 2019
To all that are out there today and the next two days…We solute you! You are die hards and we love it! Just as the rest of the Midwest we are experiencing frigid temps today and through Thurs. Much of the county received about 2″ on Sunday night. It was great to have added to the top of our nice flat base. This snow also allowed some more groomers to get out and about and all are reporting that the trails are laying down very nice! This flat, solid layer with the snow on top has made for smooth trails and very EXCELLENT conditions!
The area’s reported to be groomed are;
Trail 21 from 319 to 18, trail 18 from the Flowage to trail 5, trail 12 from the Flowage to 18, 5 from 18 south of Wolfs Eagle Lodge.
Trail 9 from Blueberry Oasis to Couderay, there is one spot to note on 9 about 1.5 miles north of Atherton Rd, there is a washout and this area has been marked. All of the Tuscobia from Birchwood to the Price County line. Trail 5 from Winter/Loretta area going north, trail 6 from Ojibwa to the dam on the Flowage.
The Seeley Hills and Moose Lake area has been groomed.
South of Birchwood unfortunately has been shorthanded the snow this year however they are getting closer to being able to groom. Those trails are now rideable and Lake Cheteq is now snow covered so that is good news! We will update as soon as groomers are able to move in that area.
The temps will continue to be very cold through Thurs then be perfect for the weekend ranging from 15-30 degrees!! We will be riding in t-shirts after this weather! Next week Monday shows about 20 degrees and a steady 12 degrees Tues through the week. This is perfect snow making temps and looks like we should get some Monday and Thursday so stay tuned for that report!
Surrounding counties: Park Falls and Bayfield reports good trails, Ashland, Washburn and Rusk are partially open, please refer to those counties as to specific trails that are open.
It will be a great weekend to ride so get your gear and head on up! And as always, thank you to all club members and volunteers!
