Your Online Trail and Travel Guide for Snowmobiling the U.S. & Canada

Trail Report: Keweenaw Peninsula / Houghton-Hancock, South Range, Copper Harbor, Michigan – February 21, 2017

Trail Conditions: Poor
Snow Cover: 10" to 36"
Date of Report: February 21, 2017
Area Report:

Trails here are in poor to fair condition due to the warm weather, rain and that the groomers cannot get out.  There is still plenty of snow on the trails once you get out of town, in town there are areas with very low to no snow.  All roads are bare as are the parking lots, gas stations, etc.  Groomers are planning on trying to get out Wednesday night, but Thursday for sure.  The ride has been rough because there were thousands of riders here over the weekend and the groomers couldn’t go out after Friday.  Temps are suppose to start dropping Wednesday night into Thursday and snow coming in for the upcoming weekend.  And temps stay under freezing all weekend.  Ice on all water is not safe at all.  I am still letting my rentals out, people are still out riding.  All riding should be done with caution, there are areas with rocks or other hazards coming thru, as well as wet areas.

I will keep you updated as conditions change.
