TRAIL IS OPEN…EARLY SEASON RIDING:

Groomers were all out this week.  They covered the entire trail system.  We went for a ride yesterday afternoon/evening and covered a large part of the trail system.   Rating the conditions of the trail varies throughout …from one section to another.  The rain hurt more areas than others.  We will try to break the trail down in sections so you may be able to choose where and what you ride on.

From Crooked Lake to Silver Cliff:  This is mostly good, but there are some areas that are fair due to ruts from vehicle traffic in the soft slushy snow.

Our Central Section which follows Parkway Road:  This is mostly in fair condition.  We really need snow here.

Newton Lake Area:  This is in fair condition

River Trail:  The River Trail itself is in good to fair condition, however, the area from the landfill to Buschman Farms is the least amount of snow in the trail system.  So reaching the River Trail from the south end will be tough.  There is a plowed field there that basically is poor.

Throughout the trail system you will find areas that are just ice…so use extreme caution when riding.

The trail is basically flat.  All we need is a little more snow.  The groomers will continue going out this week/weekend as needed.

Ride Safe and Do the Snow Dance…

Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – January 11, 2019

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6-8

Date of Report: January 11, 2019

Area Report:

Trail report for January 11, 2019 – Trails are in overall good condition. With the colder temps and not so heavy traffic the trails have turned out very nice. We had our groomers out last night and this morning to complete our trail system. We have some areas with ruts and bare spots and there still is not enough snow to fill them up. If we would get a couple of inches of snow every few days, it would greatly improve the trail conditions. With too much snow it creates big bumps quickly. Looks like there is no snow expected over the weekend but the colder temps will remain. Be aware that groomers could be on the trail at any time of the day or night. Use caution. When seeing a groomer on the trail please yield and take all directions from the groomer driver. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Prentice Bush Benders trail report- 01/11/2019

All of our trails have been groomed once. They are in fair to poor condition with minimal snow cover in the open areas and in the village of Prentice. Trails in the woods are in better shape but are still in early season riding condition with some rough spots. Trails to the South and East of Prentice have more snow cover. All the creeks and swamp areas are frozen. There is logging on trails 181 East of Prentice and 116 East of County Road K. If we get snow the trails will improve quickly with the base we have down. We will be going out Monday and Tuesday to groom all of the trails one more time, after that we will not be grooming until we get more snow. Ride safe and have fun.

Snowmobile Trail Report 1/10/2019

Fifield Sno Drovers
The Sno Drovers’ trails in the Pike Lake area are in better shape than the thin snow cover would suggest. I would rate them as fair to good. We have been grooming and the trails are generally smooth and hard. That being said, RIDE CAUTIOUSLY! There are rocks, dips and other hazards that normally would be covered with snow on the trails. I suspect the snow will not hold up well to heavy traffic so there is no telling how they will be after the weekend. We will continue grooming as we’re making the trails better, but at some point , if we don’t get snow, we’re better off not grooming since we’ll be pulling up rocks and shaving off what snow there is.

Logging continues on trail 120 south of the big swamp and Fould’s Creek Rd and on Trail 108 between Trail 101 and highway 70. Take these slowly and expect icy conditions and logging equipment. There is a small creek running across Trail 101 west of Northernaire/FR144. It is marked with a barrel and will not be a problem as long as you take it slow. We hear there is open water in Iron County on corridor 19 just off our Trail 106.

Eisenstein Bushwackers and The Sno Gypsies
Yesterday groomed 80 from Boyer road to Lake shore drive Today we groomed 89-90-91 all swamps are packed and frozen There are a couple wet areas that are very sort Like less than 10 feet. There really were only 2 spots out of all our trails. Trails are pretty good for the snow we have received so far. The Toscobia getting groomed this evening. Enjoy our trail system Thank you from the gypsies

I rode the rails last night and the trails are in decent shape. Still would like to see some additional snow to make them great but still fun. The groomers are doing a fantastic job with what they have to work with.

Trail Report – : Antigo/Langlade County, Wisconsin – January 11, 2019

Reporter:langlade

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 2-4

Date of Report: January 11, 2019

Area Report:

Zone A of the State-funded snowmobile trail system in Langlade County will open at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 11, 2019, with restrictions.  Corridor 9 South of Hwy 64 at Polar will remain closed at this time due to inadequate snow cover.  Additionally, the trail between intersections 54C and 53A will be closed due to frequent truck traffic from logging operations.  Download a Langlade County Snowmobile Map by clicking here.
Trail conditions in the wooded northern and eastern parts of the county will be in fair to good condition, with the exception of low lying swamps, which may have standing water present.  Trails in open fields may also be lacking in snow cover; please use extreme caution in these areas.  Expect early season riding conditions throughout the trail system.

Also, these trails will be open to ATV’s after January 21, 2019, and when the temperature is less than 28 degrees.

Early Season Riding with GOOD to FAIR conditions

January 11, 2019 7:01am – 15 degrees – High of 24

Lake Effect Snow again yesterday.  Not much but a little everyday & we will take  Temps during the day are up a little.  In the 20’s during the day for the next few days.  May have a pop on Monday to 30 during the day & 20’s at night.  Then back to 20’s during the day & single digits at night.  Not much in sun either which is great. SNOW isn’t going anywhere.  Most trails are in GOOD CONDITION.

Riders picked up yesterday.  Weekend is here so it will be busy.  Stay on your side.

There is ice under the SNOW on the trails not just in the corners.  At road crossings saw some areas with snirt.  The roads are sanded & sleds carry that sand up onto the trail for a short distance. Have reports of a few bumpy areas.  When the temps dropped into the single digits bumps can set & it takes a extra work to get smoothed out.

Heavy traffic areas like in towns are pretty good too, especially the grade heading into town.  10E after you come off the grade & head east is pretty snirty in a lot of spots until to get to Bloom Rd to the roads that take you to the one-ways near the Sports Arena.  Same heading west on 70/7 the beginning section where you cross the road near the Lincoln Town Hall until you get out a bit. Lots of woods & the SNOW didn’t get in there so it fatigued out quicker.

Looks like the groomers groomed pretty much all of Sno-Eagles Country last night.

Sno-Eagles Country has 2 areas that have one-way trails.  10E is a one-way trail from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  So heading out east you are on the south side of the road.  Heading back into town heading west you are on the north side of the road.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Clearly marked with DO NOT ENTER signs.  This can be dangerous.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels.  Do not drift away from the barrels as it is not safe to do so.  Remember not all lakes have trails so if you don’t see marker do not ride on it to be safe.  These are the only 2 lakes that are marked in Sno-Eagles Country.  No other lake trails.

Also there is a dusk to dawn speed limit of 55 MPH.

Trail Report – : Three Lakes – Brule River, Wisconsin – January 11, 2019

Reporter:Threelakeswi

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 3-8”

Date of Report: January 11, 2019

Area Report:

Here are your current conditions:
All trails are now open and groomed. Lots of icy corners, so make sure your carbides are fresh. More snow in the woods with a few bare spots closer to town. We will be out nightly working with the snow that we have.

Lakes are all marked. Remember, stay as close to the barrels as possible. If you don’t see barrels, assume they are not safe.

Please respect our private landowners and stay on the trail. We have had a couple issues this year already and it always puts our trails in danger.

Use cation at all road crossing as they are icy.

Trail Report – : Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin – January 10, 2019

Reporter:Manitowish Waters Chamber

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6″ – 10″

Date of Report: January 10, 2019

Area Report:

Our trails are currently good to very good.   I’ve even heard riders use the “Ever Elusive E…….t” word.  That’s what happens when you follow this recipe: take about 8″ of wet snow (over the last week), mix in some light rain for moisture and finish it with cold weather and excellent grooming! Watch the corners as they may be icy from the heavier traffic this week.

News and Reports:

A big thank you to the Manitowish Waters Chamber for mailing maps out for us and their help in reporting trail conditions.  Also a  huge thank you to the groomer operators who volunteer their time to make our trails the best they can be!

Snowmobile Information:

The Manitowish Waters Sno-Skeeters snowmobile club was founded in 1968 and is one of the oldest snowmobile clubs in existence today in Wisconsin. Located in the very northwest corner of Vilas county, Manitowish Waters borders the Lake Superior snow-belt country. With average snowfalls of 150 inches and over 25 miles of professionally groomed trails, the area is one of Vilas County’s top winter vacation areas.Manitowish Waters , Wisconsin - Snowmobiling Conditions & News

The Manitowish Waters trail system is a unique hub network directly linking into 5 other trail systems. With Minocqua/Woodruff to our south, St. Germain/Eagle River to our southeast, Lake Gogebic to our north, Presque Isle/Winchester to our northeast, Mercer and Hurley to our northwest and Lac du Flambeau/Price County to our west, our area residents and guests can choose from a variety of daily or overnight destinations for scenic riding with excellent pit stops along the way.

The Manitowish Waters Sno-Skeeters maintain an active grooming schedule for the area’s trail system. Coordinated efforts with the surrounding communities provide continuous smoothly-groomed trails in this northwest sector. The Sno-Skeeters own and operate some of the newest grooming equipment on the market today. Support the club by attending their special events or contributing to the “trail pigs” at local establishments along the trails. Or show your support by becoming a member!
