TRAILS IN GOOD CONDITION
Plenty of new SNOW overnight

Plenty of SNOW in Eagle River!  Easy 9 inches of SNOW in the last few days. Wet packy snow.  26 degrees right now with a high of 28 today.  And it looks to be overcast.  So time to ride!  We are in the time of the season that you need to ride it when we got.  Conditions change really quickly.

Trails groomed last night are:

  • In town trails
  • 70W/13
  • 17S to Sugar Camp turn around
  • 7 aka Paintball Field
  • 10W/13N to include Wisconsin River Bridge
  • 3 aka Manske Swamp
  • 17N.
  • 1N

Under the new SNOW is an icy base so be aware.  Also on the weekends the traffic is high.  Stay on your side all the time as you ride.  Last, at road crossings stop & look both ways.  The snowbanks are high and there may be areas where the trail is plowed shut at the crossings.  Riders that rode last night report blown out corners with a mix of excellent to fair riding.

Trail 1N logging operation continues in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake. With the log piles and icy grainy conditions in that section it would be good to slow down. Minimal grooming due to the logging operation.  Groomed last night.

Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trails are marked with orange easy to see reflective barrels.  Please stay by the barrels to be safe.  Spoke to several riders this morning & no surface slush to report.  Reminder that the Catfish Lake Trail that ran from Braywood to Lumpy’s is not open.  Please do not trespass on private land.

Holy moly!  Keep Dancin!
See ya on the trails!

Trail Report – : Washburn County, Wisconsin – February 24, 2018

Reporter:Washburn County

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 5-10 inch base

Date of Report: February 24, 2018

Area Report:

All of the Washburn County snowmobile trails are OPEN! Trails are in excellent condition with a 6 to 10 inch base. Thursday evening brought a fresh 4 to 6 inches of powder – the new snow is a great addition to the already good base and the forecast is calling for more snow over the weekend! The base might be a little slim at road crossings as we had a snowy dirt mixture before the new snow. Always use caution on the trails as volunteers are out grooming the trails to keep up with all the new snow we’ve received, please note that some of the trails may not be groomed yet due to the timing of the snow fall. Enjoy the trails!

Trail Report – : Price County – Park Falls, Phillips & Prentice, Wisconsin – February 23, 2018

Reporter:Price County Tourism Department

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 3 – 10 inch base

Date of Report: February 23, 2018

Area Report:

Price County trails received 5-7 inches of fresh heavy, wet snow Thursday night.  After the trails are groomed, the condition should be excellent. The volunteer groomer drivers are out working on getting our 500 miles of trail shaped up as quickly as possible which can take up to three full days. To view detailed trail condition reports, go to www.pricecountywi.net and click on the Reports link.

Some Price County trails are on private land. The use of the private land is a PRIVILEGE, not a right. Please stay on marked trails, especially across fields. There have been many complaints from landowners due to snowmobilers not staying on the trail and riding all over their fields. To avoid having these TRAILS CLOSED, PLEASE respect the private land that is open to snowmobiling.

Several miles of trail are open for winter ATV and UTV riding including the Flambeau Trail System, Solberg Trail, and Georgetown Trail. The Price County portion of the Pine Line Rail Trail (Prentice to Ogema), Snowmobile Trail 189 (Ogema to Timm’s Hill), and Snowmobile Trails 116, 181 and 118 (Prentice area loop) are also open to winter ATV and UTV riding when the trail is officially open to snowmobile use and the temperature is 28 degrees or colder.

You can order visitor information or maps from the Price County Tourism Department website, www.pricecountywi.net, or call 715-339-4505, plus you can listen to recorded trail reports or talk to the friendly Tourism Department staff.

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4-6″ of new snow

Date of Report: February 23, 2018

Area Report:

We received 4-6″ of fresh snow last night. This will do a good job of covering the snirt on the exposed trails.  They are forecasting more snow for Saturday (we will see….).  The trails will be in good shape for the weekend.

There will still be icy corners, due to the thin overall base.  Be careful out there and be watchful for fellow sledders.  This should be a good weekend to get out and ride.
