Area Report:

The trails have a 3″ to 5″ base and are in good condition.

We cannot stress enough to RIDE SAFELY and RESPONSIBLY. Trail conditions will vary greatly throughout the County. Always use caution when riding on lakes and frozen water as ice conditions will vary.

The clubs that maintain the Forest County Trail System are made up of volunteers who work very hard to provide the best trails possible. Please respect them while on the trail. When approaching a groomer or member doing trail maintenance, please slow down and move over so they can do their job.

Trail Report – : Washburn County, Wisconsin – February 23, 2018

Area Report:

All of the Washburn County snowmobile trails are OPEN! Trails are in good condition with a 6 to 10 inch base. Thursday evening brought a fresh 4 to 6 inches of powder – the new snow is a great addition to the already good base and the forecast is calling for more snow over the weekend! The base might be a little slim at road crossings as we had a snowy dirt mixture before the new snow. Always use caution on the trails as volunteers are out grooming the trails to keep up with all the new snow we’ve received, please note that some of the trails may not be groomed yet due to the timing of the snow fall. Enjoy the trails!

Area Report:

The area received from 6 to 9 inches of white gold. We have been out and panned down this gift from God! Until we go over it at least one more time, it may not be quite set up as good as we like it. So with traffic today, expect a few bumps to develop. We will be out again tonight and that should set things up better for the rest of the weekend. We will be grooming the entire weekend. There could still be icy corners, so please – as you always should anyway – ride with caution.

With the added weight of the new snow on the ice, slush pockets could develop on the lakes, as the ice is forced down and water comes up through cracks.

News and Reports:

There are logging operations in the following locations: Trail 9 between Hwy 70 (TIN 364) and Ross Lake Rd (TIN 225). There is also logging in the Jean Lake Rd area of Trail 7 North, between TINS 227 & 800. The logging, in this area, should be in the woods away from the trail.

(TIN = Trail Intersection Numbers)

Please watch out for logging areas. Slow down and stay out of the way of the loggers. DO NOT hassle the loggers. They have the right to close down sections of any trail they are logging near or using. If they get hassled too much, that is exactly what they will do – shut that trail down. The logging operations can run at anytime of the day or night. Loggers use some of the trails to drive in and out. So please be watchful in logging areas for trucks on the trail. Logging operations in any of these areas can start and/or stop without warning. So even if you ride in an area and there was nothing going on one day – it can start back up the next day.

Area Report:

Trail report for February 23, 2018, Good condition. We got a few inches of snow last night so we should be able to go out and groom and lay out a nice trail. The trails are still very thin. We should be out grooming our trails all weekend. The corners can be very bare and icy and the active logging areas have very little snow. Logging equipment can be on the snowmobile trail at any time so use caution. If you see a groomer on the trail, please take all directions from the groomer. They are out there to make the trail better for you so give them a break. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

This report is dated Friday, February 23,2018.

All Lincoln County snowmobile trails are OPEN. The trails are being reported in GOOD – VERY GOOD condition.The Tomahawk are got 3-4 inches of snow last night. There still may be icy corners. Wooded trails are much better.

Please be aware of trail closed signs, stay on marked trails ONLY and respect private land. Use extreme caution and expect early season riding conditions throughout the trail system.

Trails designated as winter ATV trails in these areas are open for ATV use. All trails are closed for ATV use when the temperature is above 28 degrees F.

Oneida County Funded Snowmobile Trail System (as administered by the Oneida County Forestry, Land, & Recreation Department)are OPEN for the 2017-2018 winter season. The trails are in GOOD – VERY GOOD condition. There still may be icy corners. Wooded trails are much better.

As always, the Oneida County Forestry, Land, & Recreation Department recommends staying on clearly marked trails. Always exercise caution when riding a snowmobile. The trails can be in rough, early season condition. Snowmobilers are urged to stay on marked trails.

6 inches of light, fluffy snow last night and this morning. Expect 4-5 more Saturday night. With mild temperatures this is the perfect opportunity to get up here and sled all weekend

We are grooming nightly. Leo / Byron were grooming last night/this morning. In the middle of a 3-6″ snowstorm. Logging operations west of the intersection of Trail 14 & Cty. W….requires attention navigating. Rainbow Creek culvert on 11(Hwy. O) tricky when crossing. When exiting to the U.P. on 11,… follow the new signs.

We have received 5-6 inches last night and another 5-6 tomorrow night on the way, trails this weekend will be some of the best riding all year, don’t miss out on the next 2 weekends. We are updating from fair to good to very good. Groomers will be out in full force now to pack down the heavy snow, be on the look out for them.

Here are your current conditions:
Fresh snow alert!!! 3″ of snow last night will make for a excellent weekend of riding. Trails will be back in tip top shape after the groomers do their work. You may find a icy corner or two. Another snow stop is in the forecast for Saturday night. Then, warmer temps for late next week. Get out and ride now before it’s gone.

Don’t forget about our Gun And meat raffle this weekend at Bonnie’s Lakeside.

Lakes are all marked, please stay close to barrels.

TRAILS FAIR – GOOD
Plenty of new SNOW

We Got SNOW in Eagle River! Looks like 5-6 inches as I look outside 6 miles east of Eagle River! With 4-5 inches in Eagle River. Still SNOWING lightly. What a nice surprise! This is one of those Ride It When We Got events. Forecast for overcast all weekend with temps in low 30’s.

Trails groomed last night are the in town trails, 10W/13N/7S, 70W/13S, 17S, 7N aka Paintball Field, 3S, parts of 10E. Keep in mind that with the SNOW totals over night there may be areas that covered back up with SNOW & do not appear groomed, Also remember that the base under the new SNOW is still icy. At road crossings be sure to stop and look both ways as snowbanks are high along side and there may be some trail crossings that are plowed shut. Be safe.

Trail 1N logging operation continues in the section between the Town of Washington Town Hall & Eagle Lake. With the log piles and icy grainy conditions in that section it would be good to slow down. Minimal grooming due to the logging operation.

Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trails are marked with orange easy to see reflective barrels. Please stay by the barrels to be safe. No surface slush. Reminder that the Catfish Lake Trail that ran from Braywood to Lumpy’s is not open. Please do not trespass on private land.
