Hello Riders!

As you know the Sawyer County trails are OPEN and the Chequamegon Forest Trails are OPEN and  until more freezes each trail varies in how rideable they are depending on where they lead. The county land and forest trails as well as the Tuscobia are where you’ll find the best riding. We have approximately a 16″ base. Not a lot of new updates but just to touch base we are still trying to freeze up the lakes. We had a couple of good cold days that was helpful but just not enough to make them ready. There is a lot of slush on the lakes insulating the good ice so they are not freezing fast. This includes swamps. The lakes that have been staked so far are: Moose, Nelson, and Spider.

Again, even though lakes and swamps are not ready yet you can still have a great ride in lots of riding areas, it just takes some planning ahead! Look at the map and highlight those riding routes that you find in wooded trails. You will not run out of trail!

Also an update on trail 5 from Tuscobia north, this is now open. It is not groomed and needs to be packed.  There is a beaver dam just north of Hwy 70 that needs to be packed down, so ride with caution.

The trails in the Seeley Hills area and 3/5 towards Lost Land Lake and Moose Lake have been groomed several times. The Tuscobia in the Winter area has been groomed. Also the Tuscobia from Birchwood to Couderay has been groomed as well as to the Rusk, Washburn and Barron County lines has. The Wild River Trail from the Rice Lake area up is open. Trail 8 on the Sawyer County and Washburn County side will be groomed on Wed. Trail 3 gates in the Birchwood area are open. Like any other private property trails that you find the gates to be open ride at your own risk as they are not groomed yet and there may be down debris from the recent snow storms this month, if the gates are not open please absolutely do not go around them.

Have fun!
