Area Report:

We have been fighting equipment issues and snow storm after snow storm this month. We had machines set up to deal with hard icy conditions such as we have mainly had for most of the last seasons. Now we get buried with astronomical amounts of snow. We have purchased a second track machine. We have been grooming practically around the clock to straighten out the mess left by the blizzard we received last Sunday. The snow was the least of the issues. We had trees and branches hanging all over our nearly 80 miles of trails.

The good news is that we have nearly all of our system back in good shape. I did report on Facebook this morning that  we had it all gone through, but there is still part of 51 that needs to be done. Club members did go through that part today on Snowmobiles and cleared the hanging trees and branches. But it has not been groomed yet. We should, however, get through it tomorrow.

Be cautious on all lakes and expect slush holes. The weight of all the snow pushes the ice down which forces water up through cracks in the ice.

Riding smart means you ride safe! Don’t become a statistic!!!
