Area Report:
It was a great weekend in Sawyer County! Many visitors and lots of traffic to the trails and excitement to the area! We did have a warm up on Friday but Saturday the temps dropped and the trails set back up. They did get rough with the traffic and some icy spots from the warm up but groomers have been out Sunday and today smoothing things back out. Even with the traffic and one day of warmer weather the consensus from most of the trail captains and clubs after the trails have been groomed are that their area of TRAILS ARE GOOD! Again, some icy/bare spots in the open and roads but the wooded trails and lakes are good!
The Chippewa Flowage has good snow and the trails leading in and out have been groomed and reported to be very good! The southern part of the county in the Birchwood and Loretta area are also being groomed and with the heavier snow fall in the beginning of last week their conditions are very good as well! Groomers are out in the Moose Lake area and have done a pass and will continue working on cutting some of the moguls. The area should be receiving some snow tomorrow and it won’t take much to patch up those bare and icy spots. We will update as necessary with any changes.
There is some brushing in the Moose Lake area. They will be finishing trail 5 today and working on trail 21N as well as 5/21 behind Charlies today and tomorrow.
Also please note a temporary reroute in the near future on the Tuscobia trail by Lemington. There will be signage and barricades indicating the reroute which will be just a slight reroute under the trail so nothing that will waver too far. Along with that reroute information a friendly reminder about the trail closure on 63 north of Bodecker Rd to Bayfield County line and trail 5/27 from Tuscobia south to Rusk County line.
Surrounding counties are reported to be in good condition as well.
Thank you to all club members and volunteers! Thank you to all who choose Sawyer County as your riding destination! Its been a great season and we are excited to see it continue!
